Therapy for Children After Separation/Divorce in Regina

Focused Therapy for Children: Our therapy sessions in Regina are designed to address the unique emotional needs of children dealing with divorce. We customize our approach to help children express their feelings, manage anxieties, and foster a sense of stability and security during this upheaval.

Indirect Support for Parents: While our primary goal is to support the child’s well-being, our therapy sessions also offer indirect benefits to parents. By equipping children with effective communication skills and healthy coping mechanisms, we help enhance family dynamics and make co-parenting more effective.

This supportive environment is crucial for their emotional development and resilience, helping them feel understood and validated.

Building Resilience and Coping Skills: Our therapy sessions in Regina help children develop essential coping strategies to manage their emotions and adapt to the changes brought about by divorce. These skills are vital for their long-term emotional well-being and adjustment.

Form to Complete

After scheduling your appointment, you will receive a form to complete in your email.  This allows us to tailor our services precisely to your needs. Whether you choose to share a lot or a little with your team member beforehand, rest assured, your comfort is our top priority.

Who attends the first appointment?

  • Parental Permission: For initial appointments for children and youth under 18 in separated families, we require permission from both parents for the counselor to meet with the child or youth.
  • Initial Appointment Options:
    1. Both biological parents attend the first session together.  Both can be in-person or one in-person and the other on video.
    2. Each parent attends their own initial appointment before the counselor meets the child or youth.
    3. One parent attends, but the other parent provides written consent for counselling to proceed. This consent can be emailed to hello@wildflowerstherapy.ca
  • Full Custody: If one parent has full custody with documentation, you can proceed without the other parent’s involvement.

How do follow-up session work?

You and your counselor will collaborate to determine the best schedule for follow-up appointments with your child or youth.  Each client who visits us is unique, and so are their needs.

  • Generally, clients tend to:
    • Book three or four sessions after their initial visit, two weeks apart.
    • Transition to monthly or bi-monthly appointments for ongoing support.
    • Some clients find that one session provides enough insights to continue their journey independently.
